Tuddu<\/em><\/strong> means to<\/strong> teach<\/strong> by speaking, by writing (e.g., on a blackboard), by showing (e.g., pictures)<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Tumuddu,<\/strong><\/em> \u201cTeach\u201d;

Muntudtuddu,<\/em><\/strong> \u201che (she) goes on teaching,\u201d 

Muntuddu,<\/em><\/strong> \u201cteacher\u201d;

Mangituddu,<\/strong><\/em> \u201cperson who actually teaches something\u201d;

Nituddu,<\/em><\/strong> \u201cit is (was) taught\u201d;

Tudduwana nan inap-apuna<\/em><\/strong> [cf. under apu], \u201che (she) teaches his (her) grandson (granddaughter)\u201d;

Ituddunay baki<\/em><\/strong> [q.v.], \u201che teaches the ritual invocations and prayers\u201d;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also means to point<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ituddum ke ha-on di kallanan<\/em><\/strong> [cf. under ala(h)], \u201cshow me where your forest lies\u201d;
Tudduwom di manuplit ke he-a,<\/em><\/strong> \u201cshow the one who shall whip\/ whips you\u201d; 
Amtudtuddu,<\/em><\/strong> \u201cindex finger,\u201d used instead of lodlodong<\/em><\/strong> [cf. under lodong].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conjugation in the Present Tense:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a verb, tuddu<\/em><\/strong> may or may not use an object of the action in a sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


1st Person: Muntudduwak<\/em><\/strong> – “I teach”

1st Person dual: Muntuddu ta<\/em><\/strong> – “We teach”

2nd Person: Muntuddu ka<\/em><\/strong> – “You teach”

3rd Person: Muntuddu hiya<\/em><\/strong> – “He\/She teaches”

1st Person plural inclusive: Muntuddu taku<\/em><\/strong> – “We teach” (We, including you)

1st Person plural exclusive: Muntuddu kami<\/em><\/strong> – “We teach”  (We, excluding you)

2nd Person plural\/2nd Person singular (formal): Muntuddu kayu<\/em><\/strong> – “You teach” (also used in the imperative)

3d Person plural: Muntuddu da<\/em><\/strong> – “They teach”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conjugation in the Imperative form<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The verb here always implies an object of the action which may not always be mentioned in the sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


1st Person: Tudduwak<\/em><\/strong> – “I teach (him or her)”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tudduwanak<\/em><\/strong> – “Teach me.” – Here, the object is the first person.

1st Person dual: Tudduwanta<\/em><\/strong> – “Let’s teach (him or her)” 

2nd Person: Tudduwam<\/em><\/strong> – “Teach (him\/her)”

3rd Person: Tudduwana(h)<\/em><\/strong> – “He\/She teaches (him\/her)”

1st Person plural inclusive: Tudduwantaku<\/em><\/strong> – “Let’s teach (him\/her\/them)” 

1st Person plural exclusive: Tudduwanmi<\/em><\/strong> – “We teach (him\/her\/them)”  

2nd Person plural\/2nd Person singular (formal): Tudduwanyu<\/em><\/strong> – “You teach (him\/her\/them)” 

3d Person plural: Tudduwanda<\/em><\/strong> – “They will teach (him\/her\/them)” – Here, for a more exact translation, we have to insert “will”  because Tudduwanda<\/em><\/strong> is an action with intent that is about to happen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
